Deepwood Antique Faire this Saturday!

Deepwood Estate is a very special historic home in Salem, Oregon.

The house is a Queen Anne victorian built in 1894, the surrounding four acres of gardens were designed by the well known female landscape architect team of Lord and Schryver in the 1920's.
The city of Salem saved this beautiful home in 1971 from a fate that so many other historic structures fell victim to;  "URBAN RENEWAL" (the other meaning of urban renewal is; if it's old, it's gotta go!) because we all know how much better a nice new shiny parking lot or state office is than some old falling down house and gardens right? What better way to honor our heritage for future generations I ask?

Well, enough of my rant on tearing down historic buildings in the name of "progress", sorry but this is one of my many passions!

The faire will be this Saturday, Sept 25th from 9am - 3pm.
1116 Mission St SE
Salem OR  97302

I 'll be there along with several other wonderful vendors.  There will be food, music, a vintage car show and you can stroll through the gardens.  Free admission! Click on Deepwood Estate on my side bar for more info and history of the house.

Do You Like My New Look?

Sometimes, we all need a little makeover.

My blog was definitely due for one and my friend Jen must have been reading my mind when she asked if I would like her to design me a new header.

Of course I jumped at the opportunity since my blogger skills are, shall we say, elementary at best.  Jen's skills, however, are certainly college level.  Well, she not only designed a new header but surprised me with an entirely updated blog!  Jen is recently published in Somerset Digital magazine, you can check her out here, she is such a beautiful, giving friend, I am truly blessed!

Thank you Jen, I love my new look, how about you?

ANTIQUE FAIRE PICS - PART 2

Wanted to share a few more pictures of the show held Aug 21st, can't wait to do it all again next year!

Becca & twin sis Jen taking pics of Martha's booth

My helper Hannah, making sure everyone entered the drawing for the fab gift basket
(sorry picture's a little fuzzy)

Martha's wonderful Mark, helping set up

I'm a little embarrassed to post this pic of my dad Bill hamming it up, but he's such a goof ball and does not act his age (81). The beer was after the show by the way & he probably only finished 1/2 of it, as usual.
He was my star car parker, if you met him, he most likely talked your leg off. I just love him to death!!

My wonderful momma Carol, she's put up with my dad for 61 years, if you can believe it.

Jackie (Dani's) work'n hard

This sweet couple are Gayla & Paul (Simply Cottage)

Paul was very busy "supervising" the booth set up.

Joy does hair now, who knew?!

ANTIQUE FAIRE PICS AT LAST!

It's been a little busy around here since the faire a couple weeks ago, lots of stuff going on - getting kids back to school (yipee!) our 30th anniversary party (so fun!) a not so fun illness and visit to the ER for me (yuck). I'm finally able to post the fab pictures Jen took of the show, got the CD from her this weekend.

She got here before the sun or my chickens were up on show day, as always, she captured the most beautiful shots. There are just so many great ones, it was hard to limit to just these few.

Enjoy!
